What a day to stop in, Tuesday and Wednesday it appears are BOGO days for cupcakes so yes that's great! Located in a small strip of shops in front of Celebration Cinema North, Sara's Sweets opens into a tight little store containing a few wooden tables and chairs, a display case of the day's offerings and an ordering counter. A large blackboard hangs on the wall displaying their specials in brightly colored chalk. I went with two of the gluten-free cupcakes. The day I was in, their GF choices included chocolate or yellow cake bases with chocolate, vanilla or peanut butter frosting options. I went with one chocolate and one yellow base both with chocolate frosting ($4 with the second free). They keep their GF cakes separate in the back of the store in a cooler so you'll have to let them sit for a minute before trying. As for the cake itself, I found it fluffy and balanced. Good flavor and moist enough not to crumble apart in your fingertips. The frosting on the other hand was a little too sweet for me. Enough to give me a sugar rush that made me regret eating an entire cupcake in one sitting. A nice shop, but it wouldn't be my first choice if I were looking for gluten-free cupcakes again.

Wide variety of cupcakes. Brought several flavors into work for a Birthday treat and all flavors were liked! They have a few other treats and do fun looking cakes as well. German chocolate & Boston Cream cupcakes are the 2 I have tried and I enjoyed both!

Excellant cheesecake! Stopped in at lunch for a to-go slice to bring back to the office. I will stop again, espcially on a bad day at work for a pick-me-up.

Went in on a whim to get sweets with my family. It was BOGO cupcakes (bonus). There was a good selection of different cupcakes and a few other sweets. The vanilla and chocolate cupcakes were so good! The frosting had the right amount of sweetness and the cake was really moist. I'll definitely be back for more cupcakes.

Are you organizing and hosting a baby shower over 100 miles from where you live? Count on Sara's Sweets to handle your desserts. I found this place by Googling "Grand Rapids cupcakes" and looking for the result that was closest to the location of our party. Pretty much a random shot in the dark...that paid off, big time! Tracey was very responsive to questions and placing an order by email, which this reviewer always appreciates. We ordered two dozen cupcakes in a variety of flavors (peanut butter chocolate, coconut, lemon, red velvet, german chocolate, and yellow), with simple, colorful flower decorations--although they can do all kinds of custom decoration--the album on the bakery's facebook page shows some super adorable kitten, puppy, cow, ninja turtle, and Monsters Inc. creations! We showed up at noon yesterday a little anxious....would the order actually be ready? Would it be what we asked for? And most of all, would the cupcakes be good? Mediocre cupcakes can be so disappointing, and we didn't know what to expect. No need to worry! Our order was ready for us to pick up, and we availed ourselves of the samples by the cash register and were out the door and on our way in about 30 seconds. Helpfully, the carriers had cute labels identifying the flavors of each cupcake. And now, the most important part: the cupcakes were delicious. Moist and flavorful, and the frosting, while plentiful, wasn't too sweet--several chronic frosting-scraper-offers in our group all said that they enjoyed the frosting on these. They're sized nicely so that you can try two...or, you know, three....different flavors without dying. My favorite was the lemon. Good service, reasonable prices, delicious cupcakes! Highly recommended!

We stopped in on a Wednesday, and it was BOGO cupcake day!! We both thought the cupcakes were delicious. The cupcakes are just the perfect size, not the huge ones you see at other bakeries. The snickers and almond had great flavor. They were not too rich. We liked them so much that my husband went back and got 4 more!
